Seven Problems that are ruining the world

Seven things wrong with the world.
This Blog is supposed to be for firefighters that ride motorcycles but after I got home tonight feeling quite depressed about everything, I thought that maybe, if I blow off a little steam, it may make me feel better.
So here goes. There are 7 things wrong in this world that need attention. I’m afraid that if these issues are not resolved in the next say, 10 or 20 years, we as a civilization are toast. We can not carry on the way we are . We, meaning civilization.
Now there’s a good word. Who the Hell is civil anymore? People have called me intelligent. I don’t have superior writing skills like my relatives and I’m no scholar. But these are just thoughts that popped into my head and I’ll write them down the way I think them. In no particular order.
Problem Number 1 - Greed.
You would think by the year 2008 we would not have to rely on oil to go through our busy days. No one can tell me the oil companies are not greedy son’s of bitches. Mother F’n son’s of bitches. Here’s a headline I pulled off the Internet.“Shell Oil president John Hofmeister calls for action against global warming” Okay John. Right. Unbelievable. He blames the government for global warming
Rex W. Tillerson, president of Exxon Mobil Corp, who by the way has an annual salary of 4.3 million dollars, said quote, “We expect continuing advances in energy efficiency,” By who, Exxon? How many of you believe he couldn’t give shit? That’s what I thought. He gets paid over 4 mil a year for that. Do these two executives think we’re all morons?
Why, has there not been advances in alternative energy? GREED.
How many devices, inventions or ideas for doubling or even quadrupling gas mileage in cars with internal combustion engines have been bought by the oil companies and put in their own private museums?I wonder. If I came up with a device that had me filling up every 1000 miles instead of every 200 miles and the oil company offered to buy it from me for 4.3 million (a mere years salary for Tillerson) do you think I’d take it?Damn Right. And for one reason. If I didn’t and tried to market it myself, I would have to fear for my life. They would take me out in a heartbeat and stick my invention in their museum.
We need to get rid of the internal combustion engine. And greed is stopping it.
Which brings me to,
Problem Number 2 - The Internal Combustion Engine.
For the sole purpose of trying not to look like a hypocrite, The internal combustion engine should only be allowed in motorcycles. Less pollution, better gas mileage and much better for the environment. Plus I can’t imagine a Harley with a solar powered engine. That would sound like crap. I’m talking about rush hour traffic where every car has one person in it, lined up for 90 minutes to work and the same home. If you look at the life span of the earth as a yardstick, the internal combustion engine came along where? At 2 feet 11 and 15/16th of an inch? And look what’s happened to the environment. Why don’t more people ride motorcycles? One person per car just doesn’t make sense. Plus, as we all know there’s nothing better than being on a Harley exploring the country or riding to work.
Traffic, pollution, billions of used tires, global warming, sky-rocketing gas prices and now wars. The number two problem with the world is vehicles running on fossil fuels. The gas companies that fill the tanks and the rubber companies that make shitty tires that only last a limited amount of miles.
The Big Gas Guzzler Come on! You can’t tell me that electric, solar or other alternative fuels for automobiles is not ready and available to run cars just as efficient as gas. How long have the greedy oil companies been buying up technology that gets better gas mileage? How come tire companies can’t make a tire that lasts ten times longer?
This car runs on solar power
This car runs on compressed air
I’d sure love to see their museum. We should have frickin flying cars by now, let alone ones that don’t need gas. It’s a short list so here’s number 3, and if I take flak for this one, so be it. I don’t give a shit.
Problem Number 4 - Religion. They go hand in hand don’t they?
And no religion too………
Don’t get me wrong, I think what John Lennon was trying to say was hold God in your heart and just be a good person. It’s organized religion, the church that we don’t need. If everyone held God close to their own heart we wouldn’t need the church anyway. Just have love for your fellow man.I think anyone religious is a good person. I’ve nothing against anyone who believes in God. They are usually morally, good people. And that’s good. But… Jihad, The Crusades, Genocide, Catholics vs Protestants, The Third Reich, Everyone vs the Jews, The 30 years war,The Spanish Inquisition! Sorry’s that’s Monty Python.People even call the war on terror a religious war. Here’s my example. Radical Muslims. What civilized (there’s that word again) religion mandates killing as many Americans as possible? No religion should mandate murder yet they do it constantly. As my firefighter buddy Pacman from Sydney says,All Muslims are not terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims.
Granted, the US sticks their nose in a lot of other people’s business. But quelling the spread of communism seemed to be a war worth fighting if you ask me. There’s no freedom in Cuba or China. Russia said fuck it didn’t they? You can’t just walk across the sand dunes and say these oil fields are mine. You can’t put up hundreds of statues and billboards of yourself!
You can’t be the head of a country and shoot your gun into the air!
You can’t have AK 47’s made out of gold while your people can’t afford shoes.
You can’t refine heroin and have a moral objection to beer!
You can’t wipe your ass with your left hand and consider bacon unclean. And by God, you can’t have more wife than teeth, although that’s one thing they have going for them.
The only problem here is, what are we really trying to achieve in Iraq and Afghanistan? I would be willing to bet that 90% of the population of Canada and the US either think we are there to fight a war on terrorism or they simply don’t know the real reason we are sacrificing these young men of ours. Does the Government really explain why we are there? Do they teach us the reason we are losing these young men? I don’t think they tell us anything. I talked to a Canadian soldier who did a tour over there. I asked him if we were doing any good and should we be there. He said yes, we should be there. The only problem is we can’t identify the enemy. This makes this war almost impossible to fight. It’s not a conventional war where you can shoot at a tank because you know it’s the enemy. If that was the case, I say go kick there ass. But it’s not.
I say get the hell out of the middle east and ignore them. Yesterday Canada lost 4 more young soldiers in Afghanistan.
How was the latest Canadian soldier killed?
Tank? Nope.
Mortar? Nope. Mine? Nope.
He was killed by an insurgence on a bicycle. A fucking guy on a CCM. How can you fight and win a war when you don’t know if a kid coming at you on a bike is going to thank you or blow you and himself up? It’s insane. We can’t win there. We can’t change anything.
Another young Canadian family without a father.
What for? The fight against terrorism? The fight for oil? Or are we protecting the Afghan bumper crop of poppies? You can’t fight an enemy that doesn’t wear a uniform or shoes.
So I said to myself, Self, what do we do? I heard a comment by an American military Officer a few years ago. He said since we stopped going into countries and ‘Taking Out’ these fanatical dictators and autocrats, the worlds gone to hell. I think we should be doing a clandestine operation over there. Small groups of operatives that can do this quietly and secretively. The way we’re doing it now can never work.
Note to Prime Minister Harper ……
Hey Steve-O, We have problems right here in Canada in case you haven’t walked through Vancouver’s east side lately. Canada is the greatest place to live in the world and I know, I’ve travelled around this planet extensively. I always love coming home to this Country. But we have social problems that need attention here!
Example?
Problem Number 4 - Drugs
Our society is rotting away from the decay of illegal drugs. Prescription drugs aren’t far behind either. Young people, and old are being destroyed by drugs.
Look at this poor soul. She should have had help long before it got to this. Clandestine labs and grow–ops put us (Firefighters) at risk every time we enter a structure fire where they are involved. And for those that don’t know, there are hundreds of them. And don’t think they can’t be on your street because the houses are in the 750 thousand range. They are everywhere and there is one near your house.
Me at another dangerous Grow-Op
I’m talking about coke, heroin, meth, crack and the stuff that results in the photo of the woman above. Marijuana just doesn’t seem to be hard drugs to me though. I know a lot of people that smoke it and it hasn’t led them to do harder drugs. I think booze does much more harm. The only thing wrong with marijuana is that it is illegal and the money you can make from it is huge. Especially our BC bud that is so powerful nowadays. It’s the grow-ops and the business that goes with it that is the hazard. People are buying and risking brand new homes in expensive subdivisions for the sole purpose of growing dope because they can make hundreds of thousands of dollars. They are death traps for us. Ask any firefighter, they go to them all the time. In fact, it’s one of the first things I think about when arriving at a working structure fire. “Is this a Grow-Op?” Get that 360 done quick so we can find out. There’s always lots of clues. My guys know as soon as it’s determined the house is a grow op, everyone out. We’ll fight it from the outside. These young firefighters have families and I’ll be dammed if I’ll let one of them get hurt or killed for the sake of fighting someone’s grow operation. Most of them are booby trapped with electric mats, rigged shotguns and other means to prevent them from being ripped off. Do you think when they are rigging them up they think “Hey, if there’s a fire and the firefighters come through the door they will be the ones that get it?”Not bloody likely. Theft for drugs, B&E’s for drugs, robbery and murder everyday on the news. Think of what the world could be without dope. Insurance rates, medical plans, unemployment, hospital fees, welfare would all benefit. People rot on the streets desperately trying to figure out how they’ll get their next fix.
A man holds a 19 yr old hostage while high on Meth.
Homelessness, abuse, communicable disease and crime, all because of drugs. They broke into my house and stole all my CD’s. Did they take food, Clothing? Nope the CD’s are worth 5 bucks a piece. They didn’t take them because they liked my taste in music. They took them and my camera to hawk them for drug money. Here in Surrey thieves have been stealing brass plaques from cemeteries so they can get cash for them at the scrapyards. The scrap dealers should be thrown in jail with the Oil executives. You have to be hurtin pretty bad to rip somebody’s brass plaque from someones grave. The only amusing thing is some are being electrocuted stealing copper wire from street lights! How callous is that? thinking it’s amusing? But it’s the only thing that makes me feel better after they could disgrace someones life by stealing their grave markers.By the way, In Afghanistan last year they had a bumper crop of poppies. The largest production in history!
Is there a flame thrower on that sled?
Afghan ‘Poppy Seed Muffin’ Farmer?
I don’t think so.
Bomb some of those crops why don’t ya! At least you could say we accomplished something for the lives of those soldiers coming home horizontal in those multi-million dollar Globemasters and Galaxy C5’s.
Problem Number 5
Politicians
next…
Problem Number 6 - Political Correctness.
If I get anymore of this shoved down my throat I’m gonna puke. It’s pretty sad when you can’t even celebrate Christmas at the office or school. Why? Because it may offend someone that worships another religion! People! What in the hell are you thinking? Why are you letting this happen? This country was made up of immagrants from other countries, other religions and other races. I’m only a first generation Canadian! People from all over the world came here and all became Canadians. And even though I am not a religious person (you couldn’t tell by now?) I still believe that Canada has christian values that each and every one of us has the right to believe in. If you want to worship Allah or Buddah, go ahead! As a Canadian, It doesn’t offend me. But if you have the balls to tell me what I can and can’t do in this country because it offends you, then you can get back on the boat you came here on Get the hell out of here. Go back home if you don’t want to be a Canadian.
Oh ya, if the law says I have to wear a helmet when I ride, SO SHOULD YOU.
Since when did religion trump Law?
Problem Number 7 - Cruelty
This one saddens me the most. Man’s inhumanity to man. The world is full of it. Cruelty to each other, the environment and what really bugs me - Cruelty to animals. If I only had one wish it wouldn’t be to stop greed or drugs or religion. My wish would be that there be no more cruelty on earth. And that my friends may just fix numbers 1 to 6.
HEY!! Smarten up! Mother Earth won’t put up with us much longer.
